Keene Trace's Justin Tereshko wins Kentucky Mid-Amateur in a three-man playoff at Gibson Bay
The 2023 Kentucky Amateur champion closed with a 71, then won on the second extra hole after a rain-delayed week at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
RICHMOND, Ky., October 16, 2026: Justin Tereshko of Keene Trace Golf Club won the 32nd Clark's Pump-N-Shop Kentucky Men's Mid-Amateur Championship at Gibson Bay Golf Course on Friday, taking the title on the second hole of a three-man playoff.
Tereshko, Kyle Jury and Indian Hills Country Club's Christian Tooley all finished 54 holes at 4-over 220. Tereshko's closing 71 was the best final round among the contenders, according to AmateurGolf.com.
A rain-squeezed week
Rain stopped play shortly after the start on Thursday, and the field did not go back out until noon. Much of the field could not finish its scheduled 36 holes, so second rounds were completed Friday morning before the final round, the Kentucky Golf Association reported.
Jury and Tooley were among those sharing the first-round lead at 2-under 70, along with Lexington Country Club's Luke Fuller. Late Thursday, Danville Country Club's Ben Kendrick led at 2 under with six holes left in his second round, with Jury one shot back.
A familiar name at the top
Tereshko has been here before. The KGA's recap of the 2025 Mid-Amateur at Owensboro Country Club listed him as the 2023 Kentucky Amateur champion and had him tied for third, two shots out of the playoff that Lexington's Denver Haddix won.
The course and the championship
Gibson Bay, designed by Michael Hurdzan and opened in 1993, is a par-72 layout of about 7,100 yards beside Richmond's 450-acre Lake Reba recreational complex, the KGA's preview said. It is long and open, so wind matters, and its signature par-3 17th asks for a forced carry over water to a multi-tiered green.
The Mid-Amateur is the KGA's 54-hole stroke-play championship for players 25 and older, with Mid-Senior, Senior and Masters divisions alongside the open division. This year's event counted toward the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
